Celebration Act of Worship June 2024
To say well done to the Year 5 children who won a special commendation at the Choral Speaking Festival and to share some of the lovely learning from school, we invited parents into school to celebrate and watch the children perform. Each class showed learning, sang a song, showed us wiggle worship or performed to the parents. Below is a powerpoint showing some of the lovely learning.
Academy Conversion
On the 1st November the school was delighted to convert to Academy status and join the Crompton House Multi Academy Trust.
This is a new chapter for the school in terms of networking and linking with the other schools in the Trust and we look forward to working in collaboration with the other schools in the Trust in the Future. These include:
- The Crompton House Secondary School,
- Beal Vale Primary School,
- St Thomas' Werneth Primary School.
Christmas at St Hugh's
Christmas at St Hugh's is always a wonderful time! We commenced our festivities with a concert by The Crompton House Band. Each class participated in a musical performance for parents and we ended the term with fun parties and a vist from Father Christmas.

At the beginning of December the Reception class enjoyed writing a letter to Father Christmas and then walking to the local post box to post their letter. Let's hope he writes back!!
Leesfield Village Advent Colouring Competition
Congratulations to the 3 wonderful winners of the Leesfield Village Advent Colouring competition. They were awarded with special prizes and certificates in the school act of worship and their designs will be made into flags and displayed on the high street.
Linking project school council leadership day
The school council chldren took part in a linking project visit to the Council Chambers in Oldham Town Centre today. This focussed on leadership skills. This is part of our new link with the 2 other primary schools in Oldham, Beal Vale and St Thomas' Werneth. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future. The children met the Deputy Mayor and explored the Council Chambers. It looks like we may have a new future mayor in the making.
Friday 17th November is St Hugh’s Day, the patron Saint of Our school. To celebrate we held a whole school worship in the hall and every class contributed to the worship, sharing facts, poems, artwork and prayers about St Hugh and our amazing school.
This was then followed up by St Thomas Leesfield Parish church service being held within our school hall and church on Sunday 19th November. St Hugh’s children attended singing in the choir and helping Reverend Chris with the bible readings, prayers and teaching. It was lovely to see some of our past children attending this service as well.

Year 6 Residential visit to RobinWood - October 2023
The Year 6 children experienced an amazing weekend of team building and physical pursuits in October at the Robinwood Centre. The children really threw themselves into the adventure, as did the staff - as you can see. Thank you to the many local businesses that sponsored the event to make it affordable for the families.
Harvest Act of Worship
Thank you to the whole school community for the kind donations for the Harvest Act of Worship. Each class led a song, prayer, bible reading or piece of learning about the Harvest. We are always overwhelmed with the generosity of the community. All of the donations will be taken to Oldham Food bank.
