Forest School is an outdoor-based program that uses real world activities to give all learners a chance to achieve. Forest school helps to develop children's resilience and independent learning skills. At forest school we work in mixed age groups, giving children the chance to experience mentor roles and support other learners. We work through a program that teaches the children the safe use of saws, rope and tarpaulins. We also learn how to safely light, use and put out fires and all take part in campfire cooking. Forest school also helps children to find time for calm reflection and helps them to learn how to value themselves, nature and others .
Comments from out Forest School Helpers:
Mrs Harrington has been accompanying the Forest School Sessions for several years as a parent helper, even though her son has now left the school. This is what she says about Forest School:
"Forest School is a fantastic way of learnig and self development for children outside the walls of school. I'm so lucky to witness friendships, confidence and independence growing stronger each and every week."
