Welcome to Year 1!
Our class teacher is Miss Khatun and our teaching assistant is Miss Swift. In writing this year, we will be focusing on a range of different writing genres based on a variety of videos, picture books and using the Write Stuff Scheme to develop the writing. We will be doing daily phonics to get us ready for the Phonic Screening test, which will be in the summer term. In Maths we will be using White Rose Maths and continuous provision to develop our mathematical skills.
Our wider curriculum will be taught in two week blocks throughout the year, please see the curriculum overview for more information. We will be covering topics such as When did people learn to fly, The Great Fire of London and Castle which will be very exciting!
This year:
Music will take place on Wednesday morning.
PE will take place on Monday morning and children MUST wear their PE kits to school.
Reading book bags will be given out and returned daily. Please take the time to read every day.
