Welcome to Year 3.
Our class teacher is Miss Hussain and our learning support assistant is Mrs Morgan-Fox.
In Year 3, our day starts at 8.45am. We have a break in the morning when we can buy fruit at 10:30. We have our lunch break at 11.45am, when we play out until 12.10pm. We then eat our lunch and return to class at 12.30pm. Our day finishes at 3.15pm.
Our Writing lessons this year will follow fiction, non-fiction and poetry units of work using ‘The Write Stuff’ by Jane Considine. This system focuses on a clear, step-by-step approach to help students become more successful and confident writers. Our Reading lessons will focus on fluency, which involves developing the flow, pace and sound of reading. Alongside developing our comprehension skills, which demonstrates our understanding about what we have read. We will now be following the ‘White Rose’ Maths scheme for our mathematical units of work.
In Year 3 we continue to develop subject knowledge and skills in the curriculum areas of; Science, History, Geography, Art, D&T, RE, PSHRE, PE, MFL (French) and Computing.
Our wider curriculum will be taught in blocks throughout the year, please see the curriculum overview for more information. Our blocks will cover a range of wonderful topics such as The Stone Age, The Romans, Mountains and Magnets.
This year:
PE will take place on a Tuesday.
Reading book bags can be taken home each day and brought back into school, we aim to listen to all children read on a 1:1 basis weekly as well as in their reading lessons. Some children are daily readers. We expect children to read at home daily for at least 15 minutes.
Other homework will be allocated on Friday. It may consist of spelling on EdShed. Children have their own logins for these sites, a copy can be sent home.
