Castleshaw Educational Visits - Years 3, 4 and 5 May 2021
During the week of the 17th May, Year 3, 4 and 5 all visited the Castleshaw Centre to enhance their Geographical skills.
Year 3 focussed on recapping their knowledge about rivers. They explored the valley, walked up the River Tame and found the source, this is where the river begins its journey. After this, they went pond dipping and identified creatures that lived in the local habitat.
Year 4 and 5 focussed on recapping their knowledge of map reading and orienteering. They started the morning by matching the symbols to the correct label. After this, they used their skills to follow a course on a map. In the afternoon, they went orienteering. Using their skills, they were able to locate points on a map and follow a map around the local area.
Year 5 Space home learning
In the summer term Year 5 learned all about Earth, moon and space. They learned about the planets, why we have night and day and all about the moon.
As part of the learning the children designed own moon buggy and were set the task of having a go at making one at home. Some children also continued the learning themselves and made models of the solar system, as well as even making space helmets! Well done Year 5 for all of your extra effort with home learning.
Here are some photographs of the completed home learning.
